Joburg Bloggers tea and cake

Joburg Blogger tea & cake Wolves Illovo Johannesburg

Tanya Kovarsky, a friend from CIS Toastmasters, invited me to the Joburg Bloggers tea & cake. She’s also the editor of Living and Loving magazine. I’ve not been to any blogger meetups like 27Dinner for a very long time. So this should be good, especially being in the company of people who are paid to write for print. So why not join me? No need to RSVP, simply come along.

Joburg Internet Cafe workshop postponed

Nelson Mandela Square, Sandton CityDue to unforeseen circumstances I’ve been forced to move the date of the next Internet Cafe workshop schedules for this Saturday. The primary reason for this is that I’ve been on a short break in Uitenhage and on Sunday missed my flight back to Johannesburg. My car has been parked at OR Tambo airport for 3 weeks and I have to drive directly to Rustenburg from Tuesday till Thursday to deliver 7 talks to parents, teachers and children at Selly Park Convent Primary School, Selly Park High School, Fields College Primary School. Fields College High School and Lebone II.

So the new date is Thursday, 18 March 9am-5pm. And the venue remains Sandton Library on Nelson Mandela Square. Any queries? Please post your questions below as comments. More updates will be posted on this announcement.

Joburg Tweet-Up Name Tags and Event Tweets

Received this email from the eminent Ryan A. Gibson, organiser of Joburg Tweet-ups

This is our second tweet-up (#JHBtweetup) and it is looking great for attendance. I want to welcome the new members as you have helped this group double in size.

Please send your twitter name to me so that I can prepare your name tags for the event. You can email it to ryan@publishknowledge.com or DM me @ryanagibson.

Also, for the sake of helping market the event I would appreciate a tweet either letting people know about the tweet-up which people can register or letting people know you are going. If your friends know your going, then you might have more friends go as well. Its nice to see familiar faces, and if you invited them… they come there to meet you. So its a nice thing to remember to do, just let your followers know your coming. If you registered No for the event and can’t make it, a tweet would still be appreciated. Hopefully you can manage to find a way out of that other party… this one will be better :)

Sincerely,

@RyanAGibson

It is a tweet-up, I will ask MLM people to leave…if you prospect. If I hear one independently wealthy working towards being a millionaire… Kidding, but be respectful if you are. Thanks. It is for twitter users… not MLM.

Breakfast with Angela Ludek, aka WildAngel

About 3 weeks I met someone with whom I believe I share a spiritual connection. I cannot explain it in words. Freud came close when he described this type of feeling as uncanny – strange or mysterious, esp. in an unsettling way. And Carl Jung helped me understand how we met when he in turn coined the phrase synchronicity – the simultaneous occurrence of events that appear significantly related but have no discernible causal connection. Well what am I going on about here?

Let me take you back to the days of SABC1′s Simunye Grooves days. Angela Ludek was one of the original presenters during programming. And she later moved to Goodhope FM, also owned by the SABC. She has worked with Lovelife organisation in the past to raise awareness on safer sexual relationships between young people. At the time she was at Goodhope FM, she was based in Cape Town, although she is Joburg-born and bred. I had just interviewed Jeannie D, one of the young new stars in the South Africa media landscape. So I got an invite to the launch of a new television commercial directly supervised by the now infamous Pop Idols judge, Randall Abrahams.
